In August, one of the hottest DAM debates ever<\/strong> (60+ comments) takes place: On LinkedIn, David Diamond proposes calling our subject \u201cContent Management\u201d<\/a> instead of \u201cDigital Asset Management\u201d. Ralph Windsor responds with Digital Asset Management is not Content Management<\/a>, coining the term \u201cContent DAM\u201d<\/em>, and he defines Digital Assets<\/a> on his newly-launched Digital Asset News<\/a> site. A glimmer of hope for better DAM interoperability<\/strong> is Emily Kolvitz initiating a W3C DAM Industry Business Ontology Community Group<\/a> whose mission is \u201cto propose, discuss, create and maintain extensions to schema.org related to the DAM industry\u201d<\/em>. She writes about it in Can we get some DAM Findability on the Web?<\/a> Everyone, please participate<\/a>! \u2013 \u201cStandards-based\u201d<\/em> is one of ADAM\u2019s four key attributes of interoperability<\/a>, and Anna Cotton lists flexibility and integrations in her 5 questions to ask your DAM vendor<\/a>.<\/p>\n

CMSWire runs a series on Enterprise DAM<\/strong>, stressing that DAM is not just for the marketing department. Contributors are Martin Wilson<\/a>, Jason Arena<\/a>, Jake Athey<\/a>, Ines K\u00f6hler<\/a>, Alan J. Porter<\/a>, and Toby Martin (drone imaging)<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Jarrod Gingras writes about DAM for CPGs<\/a>, and records a 30-minute briefing on how to convince your boss to fund DAM<\/a>. Pica9 has 9 questions to ask<\/a> during the requirements gathering phase. Both Widen<\/a> and Canto<\/a> introduce their Professional Services teams.<\/p>\n

Greg Lambert wants to reestablish the corporate librarians<\/a>, and Peter Krogh gives an update on The DAM Book 3<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Brian Kavanaugh asks whether our systems are helping or hindering success<\/a>. Kaya Ismail describes IBM’s vision for \u201cheadless\u201d with Watson Content Hub<\/a>. Regulations that might affect your DAM system: GDPR<\/a> and ISO 27001<\/a>.<\/p>\n

George Anadiotis writes about machine learning for photography applications<\/a>, and Ron Miller is convinced AI will fundamentally change how we manage content<\/a>.<\/p>\n
