Because all product decision authority rests with the \u201cProduct Owner\u201d, Scrum <strong>disallows engineers from making any product decisions<\/strong> and reduces them to grovelling to product management for any level of inclusion in product direction.<\/p>\n<p>2. Scrum, in accounting for all the engineer\u2019s time in a tightly managed fashion, <strong>discourages innovation<\/strong> . [\u2026]<\/p>\n<p>9. Scrum <strong>discourages bug fixing<\/strong>, reduction of technical debt, and risk taking, all because of its narrow, exclusive focus on only doing items that Product Owners would interpret as valuable.<\/p>\n<p>10. Scrum is hypocritical<\/p>\n<p>Do managers or Product Owners track and estimate every task they engage in with <strong>little or no say in what they work on<\/strong>? [\u2026]<\/p>\n<p>11. Scrum makes many faulty assumptions<\/p>\n<p>[\u2026] It assumes that <strong>engineers are not to be trusted<\/strong> with directing their own work. It assumes that engineers cannot aligned themselves with the best interest of the organization, without tight supervision.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>I\u2019m not sure a hypothetical \u201cperfect Scrum\u201d has these faults, but these are certainly issues we\u2019re facing in our bastardized pseudo-Scrum implementation.<\/p>\n<p><em>Update:<\/em> See also Jurriaan Kamer\u2019s excellent <a href=\"http:\/\/www.agilecio.net\/blog\/you-will-not-become-agile-by-implementing-scrum\">You will not become agile by implementing scrum<\/a>.
